Sales Revenue represents the total monetary value for a given time period. This is typically represented along with a currency as context. Predominantly, the financial value is used for reporting a KPI, but certain scenarios do require volumes to be reported besides the value. Although the title says “Sales Revenue”, the overall category is under Revenues, which makes this KPI closely monitored by Finance departments and exert influence on how it has to be calculated and reported.
Sales Revenue is associated with time dimension and other additional dimensions (e.g. Region, Employee, Product, Customer) as required. This KPI is not reported in isolation, instead compared against a benchmark. The benchmark can be a pre-defined target or different time frame for comparison i.e. Revenue vs Target OR Revenue for Q1 vs Revenue for Q2.
