Type of KPI – Counts

Another major category of KPI’s are Counts and Distinct Counts of an underlying measure in relation to a dimension or condition. One primary difference between Amount & Volume types against Count is the aggregation type.

While arriving at the final KPI value, base measure(s) are usually aggregated i.e. added up based on business logic whereas Counts type typically displays the number of occurrences.

Some examples are

  • Active Employees: Number of employees that are working for the organization full-time.
  • High Value Orders: Number of sales orders above a defined threshold value.
